Energy transition and sustainable development

The Auberge de la Sélune and sustainable development

You are here in an establishment which is fully aware of the issue of climate change and sustainable development, including its biodiversity aspects. And while of course technologies can help us, we know that the major issue to be addressed is that of energy sobriety. And we know the orders of magnitude.

Our sustainable actions

We

Our contribution to a global energy transition project begins with our own responsibility and the actions we take. The first of these is linked to our choice of catering offering, resolutely oriented towards local and seasonal products, and to the way in which we implement it, by limiting food waste through the very design of the dishes offered. .

We also act on our investments over the years and as we become able, in order to reduce our energy consumption. Started in 2014 on the basis of an energy audit, supplemented in 2023 by a carbon assessment, our approach concerns, for example, the gradual replacement of our old equipment (the recent replacement of our cold rooms having for example been very convincing in terms of reduction electricity consumption), but also insulation, replacement of our heating source in 2015, insulation, etc...

Finally, we believe above all that our sustainability is linked to the customers who come to us, and in this sense we promote local tourism, on the one hand, and zero-carbon tourism (including bicycle tourism), on the other hand.

Sustainable tourism

You

77% of carbon emissions from tourism originate from the movement of people (source: Ademe). Significantly reducing our emissions in this sector cannot therefore be done without rethinking the way we travel.

Reducing does not mean eliminating. Going as often but less far, not stopping going far but doing it less often and for longer, are simple and affordable ways to get started, to test the water temperature before diving.

Deciding to take a big trip every other year rather than every year, choosing to go see friends you haven't met for a long time rather than going on a weekend to Madrid, having fun spending a weekend at less than an hour from home by staying there, slow down by going to visit this essential site on foot rather than taking the car for 10 minutes: what experiences to have!
